2025 SJSU Scholarship Awardee
Congratulations to Victoria Dray, a 2nd year student interested in becoming an animator. The board was impressed by her work and her journey. You can read her message of acceptance below:
“It is an amazing honor to be the recipient of this year’s Titmouse Foundation Scholarship award. As an independent student and a new immigrant to this country, there are no words to describe how I feel at this moment. This is one of the most significant milestones for me in my journey as an artist. Beyond the ability to focus on my studies and not constantly worry about getting into debt to pay for living expenses and school, this scholarship gives me the confidence I’m not delusional and will succeed in my goals of working as a professional 2d animator one day. The past two years in SJSU have been some of the most important and transformative times of my life. Not only was I able to develop my skills like never before, but my understanding of the world and global life-changing events that related directly to my close family affected how I saw animation and art forever. I want to work on developing my artistic voice and creating entertaining work that would engage and bring people together. I believe in our time, artists are more important than ever in our unique way of reaching people and creating a connection, hopefully shaping our culture, and maybe even creating change.
I look forward to the two years I have left in this program, to have more time to support our amazing Shrunken Head Man club community and help any student as we support each other on our way to becoming better at what we love to do.”
